My Mission Statement

My Mission Statement

Lead with love.

Lead with love.

In whatever I do, I want to lead with love. This means that I:

  • Strive to champion the best parts of people

  • Look at things neutrally with a slight skew to optimism

  • Look at performance through a lens of learning. Both failure and success are a great teacher, not evidence that you’re born with it or not.

  • Turn up joy without tempering it

Book Recommendations

Book Recommendations

  • Mindset by Dr. Carol Dweck. This book has been one of the most important books to my personal development in the past 10 years. It has helped reframe my personal relationship with failure. Where I used to see failure and success as indicators of if I’m born with it or not, through this book, I’ve learned that struggle means I’m learning. And it’s impossible to learn without some level of struggle.

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear. This is a wonderful book about the importance of daily habits. Highly recommended.

  • Breath by James Nestor. It’s amazing how much we ignore our breath. But by paying attention to it, you can improve your physiological functioning and also use breath to regulate your emotions and maintain presence. A fascinating read.

  • Crucial Conversations (Third Edition): Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High by Joseph Grenny, Kerry Patterson, Ron McMillan, Al Switzler, and Emily Gregory. If you want to get better at difficult conversations or conflict, this book will help you. It does a great job laying out how you can bring the best version of yourself during conflict. Note that it’s not a book on how to win difficult conversations. Instead, it’s about how you can lead yourself and others through difficult conversations.

  • Presence by Amy Cuddy. Do you get in your head too much? Do you want to learn how to be in the moment more and out of your head listening to self-doubt and judgement? This book will help you do just that.

  • Blind Spot by Mahzarin Banaji, Anthony Greenwald, and Eric Jason Martin. This book is a wealth of education on unconscious bias, its impact to decision making, and how to minimize unconscious bias in your decision making.
